Approved NZ treatment suppliers

If you need a treatment supplier in New Zealand, they must be approved by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to treat:

  • imported risk products on arrival
  • products for export to meet destination country requirements.

Offshore treatment suppliers

Some imported products need to be treated offshore to prevent the introduction of pests and diseases into New Zealand.

MPI doesn't approve or require approved offshore treatment suppliers for all imports. Check if your product requires an approved offshore treatment supplier in the relevant import health standard.

If you’re importing goods from Italy that require sulfuryl fluoride treatment, check our list of acceptable Italian treatment providers.

New Zealand is moving towards a requirement to use only registered treatment suppliers for offshore treatment of goods. When in place, importers may have additional costs at the border if non-registered treatment suppliers have been used.

Approved methyl bromide treatment suppliers

If you're importing from one of the following countries and your goods require methyl bromide treatment, we recommend you use a treatment supplier approved by that country's biosecurity agency.

Check for acceptable methyl bromide treatment suppliers in these and other countries in the Australian Fumigation Accreditation Scheme (AFAS) list.

Requirements for NZ treatment suppliers

Treatment suppliers in New Zealand must:

  • meet appropriate standards
  • use approved treatment options
  • be MPI-approved.
